Lorna Vassallo flimkien mal-Partit Laburista ghal darb’ohra qed tnehdi erba’ konkorsi li ghal din is-sena ghandhom it-tema “Fis-Satra l-Faqar Jghix”. Il-konkorsi huma tal-fotografija, ta’ l-arti, tal-kitba / novella u tal-poezija. Hemm katergoriji ghall-kbar u ghaz-zghar f’kull konkors. Hemm ukoll premjijiet ghal novelli u poeziji bl-Ingliz fil-kategorija ta’ l-adulti. Persuni jridu jipprovdu nom-de-plume ghal kull xoghol u jistghu jaghzlu persuna ohra sabiex tirrapprezentawhom.

For the third consecutive year Lorna Vassallo with the collaboration of Malta Labour Party is organizing four literary and artistic competitions all of which will have the theme "Hidden Poverty Lives". The two artistic competitions are the Art and the Photography competitions, whilst the literary competitions are the Short Story/Essay and Poetry competitions. Participants are left fully free as to what style they choose. Attractive prizes are to be won.

POPE JOHN PAUL II’s PLAY TO BE STAGED IN OCTOBER (2005)

Next Sunday,16^th October 2005 at 6.30pm re, Hamrun. This year too, a public figure’s literary side will be explored following last year’s success after a staging of Alfred Sant’s play “It-Tfal ta’ Nikol Grixti” by the same producer.

Although this might still be unknown to some, Karol Wojtyla was one of the founders of “The Rhapsodiac Theatre” – a secret theatre born amid an active policy towards the annihilation of Polish culture by the Nazi regime.

FREEDOM AND THEN WHAT? (2004)

We took liberties with freedom and watched the rehearsals for Alfred Sant's last and never staged play

Freedom is a very specific nothing. It's also nothing very specific, a word that hermeneutically launched a thousand definitions but not one single meaning. Rather, it flocks together with other abstract ideas like movement and speech. It hides behind the Iron and Bamboo curtains and has lunch with the press and philosophy, with the latter attempting to define this particular abstraction using other abstractions: Heidegger using freedom as the language of purpose; Sartre spending a lifetime trying to configure freedom in the light of action, only to see Camus fell all with one single sentence - freedom is only an idea.
